Funding

The EPF needs funds to support its activity and ambitions. Funding is required for hosting the website, providing the 24 hour patient helpline, mailshots to A&E departments and administrative support to run the organisation. All the trustees, faculty and international resident advisors are honorary and receive no financial reward and give their time freely.

The only expenditure is for secretarial/administrative support, which is charged at national rates.

Donations from patients can be given by 'Just Giving' on line. We receive some financial support from equipment suppliers for surgery. We do not have any governmental support.

David Williams- a brief history

David Williams spent most of his early childhood in Hayes, Middlesex, and in a house filled with strong links to art and artistic skills. Both his parents were artistic and indeed David’s father Joseph was a well known local artist and sculptor with many awards to his name.

Crazily, David’s first job was at Wilson Brothers Greeting Cards where he had the task of writing witty verses for the wide range of cards being produced. Although this was not meant to be a long term career move, it did give him the opportunity to study the small team of on-site artists at work as they created yet more cards and images.

Although David left the company in the late 1960’s the tricks of the trade he saw stayed with him, and have been put to good use over the last 40 years when creating original cards to mark special events and anniversaries for corporate organisations, colleagues and friends alike. In 2009, and because of the positive response to his humorous images, David decided to create his own range of greeting cards, and these are now available in stores and outlets in London, Buckinghamshire and Hertfordshire.

When not creating light hearted cartoon, David has managed to indulge his great interest in history, and has worked at the National Maritime Museum, Greenwich, and for the past 10 years as Corporate Sponsorship Manager at the Tower of London.

One of David’s over-riding passions has been his interest in Admiral Lord Nelson, and this has led to an appearance in a major Channel 4 documentary entitled ‘Nelson’s Trafalgar’ and a series of illustrated lectures on Nelson in both the United Kingdom and the U.S.A. One U.S. contact David met during his time at Greenwich commissioned him to create a magnificent replica of the Admirals’ Full Dress uniform, medals and decorations, and this can now be seen in the Great Cabin on board HMS Victory.

Sisters Katie and Alix Cordell are running the Sussex Beacon Half Marathon in Brighton on 21st February 2010 in aid of the Ectopic Pregnancy Foundation. Alix said ‘We’ve run a few 10Ks before and wanted to up the distance. Katie had an ectopic pregnancy in September 2009 and I thought this would be a good way for her to get fit again after the operation and have something else to focus on’. Katie added, ‘I suddenly thought that if we got sponsorship for the Ectopic Pregnancy Foundation it would add another dimension to the run. We could really turn what was a terribly traumatic event into something positive. The Ectopic Pregnancy Foundation is a vital resource for people who have suffered like me’. If you would like to sponsor Katie and Alix to run the half marathon, please go to: www.justgiving.com/katiecordellhalfmarathon
